PC Hardware

We only guarantee GAMING laptops that have a DEDICATED GRAPHICS CARD. If you have a business laptop with an integrated CPU/GPU, we cannot guarantee that the sim and shot detection will work 100%.  If you are using a tower PC, you just need to meet the minimum spec listed below.

If you are unsure if you’re graphics card is good enough…. Hit your windows key and type DXDIAG.  Run the diagnostics, and you will see ‘DISPLAY1’ and ‘DISPLAY2’.  We only guarantee cards that say “FULL DISPLAY DEVICE” under the GPU title.  If it says ‘RENDER ONLY’ you may run into issues.  If you are unsure if your laptop will run, please give us a shout on live chat, or instagram DM ‘pointblanksimulatoruk’ and we can assess what you have.

If you need any advice on which gaming laptop or PC to buy, please do give us a shout.  Hear to help.

Point Blank Simulator needs a Windows based PC to work.  PBS does not currently work on an Apple Mac, even using a virtual machine such as Parallels.  We are hoping in the future that there will be an OS X version for Mac users.

Motion Capture

Point Blank Simulator has the option on some courses of fire, to use a Microsoft Kinect V2.  The Kinect is designed to be used on an Xbox One so has the connection plug for this.  If you want to use motion capture on PBS, you will need to convert from the Xbox plug, to USB2.0.

These converters can be purchased from places such as eBay – “Kinect 2.0 to usb converter”.

Please be aware that most of the Kinect converters we have seen, come with a two pin US / Euro plug and not a UK 230v three pin power plug, please order a plug converter if needed, to save you not being able to use it after waiting for it to be delivered.
